Our 7 Tip Guide to Your Healthiest Hair

Our 7 Tip Guide to Your Healthiest Hair

Just like growing carrots in the garden, growing yourself some healthy hair can be a daunting task. Being healthy in general can be hard, but we have some top tips that will help you, at least, get your hair under control.

Tip #1

Use the right brush. And don’t force out those tangles.

The best way to avoid breaking or damaging your hair as you brush out those luscious locks is to invest in a wet brush. Most of us are in a hurry after a shower and our hair often takes the brunt of it. Save yourself time and your hair from snapping strands by purchasing a brush that is safe for wet or damp hair.

Tip #2

Use Protection. It’s mandatory for your hair, just like it’s mandatory in bed.

Yes, that is right ladies and gentlemen! Protecting your hair from damage is an (obviously) essential tip for maintaining a healthy mane; this means using heat protectants before blow-drying or using hot tools. You can even try applying shine serum after you’re finished styling to lock down stray split ends.

Tip #3

Sleep on Sateen. You’ll ensure healthy hair, and you’ll feel like royalty.

Truth be told, cotton absorbs moisture. And no matter what the thread count is, it’s going to suck your hair dry while you sleep. So, if you want a way to make your blowout last longer after your appointment… go out and buy a nice, silky sateen pillowcase. Not only is sateen much cooler to sleep on, but it helps keep your hair in good shape; meaning, less tangles and knots as you toss and turn.

Tip #4

Avoid the daily shampoo regime. Because shampoo every day is stripping your scalp.

When you get sudsy all the time, your scalp ends up overproducing its natural oils. And obviously, when you’re hair is too oily, you deem it a greasy mess, and you want to wash it again. It’s like a never-ending cycle that is destroying your hair health! But not to worry, there is a fix to this wretched routine. Simply, stop shampooing every day! We recommend every other day, or maybe two days if you can handle it!

Tip #5

Treat yourself. To hair treatments, of course!

At home hair treatments are great to do once a week or once every two weeks. Hair masks and oils are made to help nourish, repair, and strengthen your hair all well encouraging a healthy shine! But if you’re looking for something even better? Then ask your stylist to professionally treat your hair at your next appointment. We carry top of the line products at Plan B that will have you leaving your hair appointment with sweet, supple strands.

Tip #6

Feed your hair with good food. And lots of it!

Now is the time to get down with your inner hippie and replenish your hair with proper vitamins, oils, and minerals. Some of the best supplements for strong, healthy hair are ones that contain vitamin E, B and A, biotin, omega-3 fatty acids. But if you’re not into the supplemental route, you can also slather your hair in some natural, hydrating oils! Coconut, macadamia, and almost are all great for penetrating inside the hair shaft; getting right to the base of your hair, resulting in lasting hydration.

Tip #7

Tidy up them ends. Seriously, don’t be afraid of an itty-bitty cut.

Now, we aren’t saying to come in for a haircut all the time… but when you’ve waited for six to eight weeks to book your next appointment? It might a good idea to let us chop off the dead stuff . Just man or woman up, make the sacrifice, and say goodbye to half an inch or so. It will be worth it in the end once everything feels more tidy.

So, do you plan on following any of these recommendations? Let us know below if you’ve tried any of these tips, or if you have any tips to share yourself!
